Almost every state in the Union now has a diversion for first-time offenders on misdemeanor cases. It’s just what it sounds like. It’s diverting the case off of a track so that – let’s say that you have a drug problem – well, if you participate in a drug court or drug program the case will get dismissed. If you don’t have a drug problem and you just made a bad error in choice, then maybe you’ll do some community service and get your case dismissed.
