Speeding in DC

So you were stopped for Speeding in the District of Columbia.  If you were speeding under 30 miles per hour, your case will go to the District of Columbia Department of Motor Vehicles where you may not need a lawyer. (See our video on do I need a lawyer for traffic)   However, if you charged with speeding over 30 miles per hour you will need a lawyer because of the consequences.  In the district of Columbia speeding over 30 miles per hour in excess of the legal speed limit shall, upon conviction, be fined not more than three hundred dollars ($300) or be imprisoned for not more than ninety (90) days.   First and foremost ? our objective is always 2 fold ? keep you out of jail and 2nd try and make and so you don?t have a criminal record . So how do we do that ? Fight, challenge, investigation and prepare the case.  There may be other options such as diversion that we can request or we may challenge the equipment the officer used to cite the ticket – either way hire an experienced lawyer to guide you the process.
